Tribute to the Battle of Lyme Bay, 1944.

The Battle of Lyme Bay in 1944 was a tragic encounter in Lyme Bay, Devon. During a rehearsal for D-Day German E-Boats appeared and caused hundreds of casualties. The disaster was hushed and subsequently almost forgotten. Walking on a beach around the bay I came across this lost toy soldier and it reminded me of the event. Serving, in a small way to draw attention to the tragedy, the child's toy represents the innocents that lost their lives that fateful day.
